For the second time this summer, the travelling Water Lantern Festival format comes to Brussels. Inspired by ancient Asian traditions, it invites participants to take the time to pause and reflect on what really matters: love and hope.

After a particularly successful first edition at the Dilbeek castle estate, the Water Lantern Festival lands at the Pond of the Bois de la Cambre in Brussels on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 September. The event invites visitors to personalise a lantern with a message, a memory, a wish, or a few words close to their heart.

As darkness falls, the lanterns are released onto the water together, creating a breathtaking display of light. The dancing lights on the water form a unique, photogenic scene that is the highlight of the evening. But the festival is more than just that closing moment. Soothing melodies and unique performances set the right mood for you and your company. You can enjoy delicious food and discover unique products from local entrepreneurs. This is an outing to share with friends, family or a partner, to make memories together. Take a moment for your loved ones, revisit memories, and escape the rush of everyday life for a while.

Access to the grounds and the event is completely free and open to everyone. If you buy a ticket in advance, it reserves a complete lantern kit for you, which you can assemble, decorate and personalise yourself before letting it drift onto the lake. On the day of the event, kits will also be sold on site while stocks last.

One last important detail: the organisers stress that the lanterns are eco-friendly and biodegradable, and a clean-up system is in place afterwards to minimise the impact on the park.
